Kilchoman Spring 2011 Release 46%

Kilchoman were celebrating this week with a Spring 2011 release after this fine dram won the GOLD BEST IN CLASS award for the Islay Single Malt un-aged catergory at the IWSC 2011 awards ..........slainte :-))
Kilchoman Spring 2011 is described as a mix of 3 year old (70%) and 4 year old (30%) matured in first fill bourbon barrels. The 4 year old has been finished in oloroso sherry butts for five weeks.
I thought I'd compare it to last nights tipple the Kilchoman Inaugural 100% Islay 2011 50% Limited Edition Release. They are slightly different I'm pleased to say! I found the Spring 2011 release to be much sweeter and fruitier to my palette with a bit more fire. It still has that lingering smoky wood after taste, common to other Kilchoman's that I have tasted. I won't dribble on about this one as I think you would all agree another fine whisky worth the money.

Scoring
3.8 out of 4 points for flavour and feel good factor but with a wee bit of bite.
3 out of 3 points for Presentation – Well delivered packaging
3 out of 3 points on Cost and is it worth is money,  Yes
9.8/10
